POPGUN is a wickedly tight and melodic rock band that’s not afraid to speak the truth in song. Chuck Danas is the driving force of the band, as his lyrics and powerful vocals prove. Born a New Englander, and then raised in different places along the east coast. His influences range from the heavy sounds of Iron Maiden to the pop and originality of the Beatles. Having spent time listening to Country, Jazz, Blues, Metal, many styles of Rock, he will leave the categorization of POPGUN music to the critics. The first songs to come out of this project were developed with Steve Booke, composer/guitarist for the band. Steve is a masterful guitarist, along with other instruments. Born in Long Island, NY, Steve’s influences are extremely varied, including, eastern influences, heavy metal, country and rock and roll. He has spent over 20 years writing music for tv and film as well as having released 10 solo albums and producing/performing on countless others. Steve has played live from small clubs to arenas, from local acts to North American tours in every genre of music imaginable.
After spending many years playing in the Long Island club scene and honing our skills, we are finally ready to emerge with some exciting and dynamic sounds. Considering the band members are in their 50’s, we have seen the rock scene change over the years, we still feel there is a strong need for the angst and rebelliousness of rock and roll for all generations to experience and revel in. Rock and roll should never die and should continue to be a powerful force of change in the world. POPGUN is here to help keep the torch lit to inspire new generations and awaken the beast of the old generations. Stay tuned for single releases and show dates.
